A collection of my artistic mishaps

change is good

“Punch It” artist prints on sale now!

Hey everyone!

I don’t know if you’ve seen Star Trek: Into Darkness yet, but you HAVE to see it.  It’s pretty damn spectacular and I’m pretty sure you won’t be disappointed.  My AP’s are now available in my store in case you weren’t able to get one.  As always, thank you again for all of your support.  Some people are unaware of this, but majority of the money I make off of prints gets recycled back into my next piece and it allows me to experiment with other techniques.  So thanks for helping me stay inspired.

Thanks!

ReDiscovery: An art tribute to Daft Punk

Heya folks!

I’ve been posting a lot of teasers recently of my pieces for the ReDiscovery show, and since the show opening draws near, I figured I’d go ahead and post the full images of my pieces.  I’m really happy with how these came out and I can’t thank Danny Askar of Ohdanielsan printing and Bryan Cowe of Re-opening for bringing my digital image into a 3D object we can all hold and enjoy.

The concept behind this is they’re not just a digital band anymore.  They’re bringing back analog equipment.  There’s always been pressed vinyl records released with Daft Punk, so I wanted to show my appreciation for it.

I’ll be releasing a very limited edition set for this show which includes both the acrylic set and the screen printed set.  All with matching numbers of course.  I’ve packaged the acrylic pieces nicely too with record sleeves and plastic.  It’s like you’re buying a real album!

The acrylic set is an edition of 4 and the screen print edition is 40.  I will also be selling buttons I made which will preview another Daft Punk piece that I’ll be releasing on May 21st which is the same day the album drops.

Also, I wanted to give a shout out to Mike over at Xombiedirge.com for all his support.  He’s been doing a fine job premiering and promoting shows that I’ve been involved with.  You can see his unveiling here.

If you attend the show, please take some pics for me!  I’d really appreciate it!  The show opens Saturday May 18th, 2013 at Gauntlet Gallery in San Francisco.  See the postcard for details.

Thanks!

-Jason

Some pictures from the Bad Robot opening reception

Thanks so much to everyone that came out last night!  It was crazy to see the line outside of the gallery!  I met and talked to a lot of really cool people last night, from collectors to other artists I’ve been virtually chatting with over the last year.  Finally nice to put a face to the names!

Anyways, These are pictures of my art pals and some of my favorite pieces in the show.  There’s a lot more amazing pieces in this show and I feel a lot of the artists really stepped up their game with this show!  Congrats to everyone on their hard work, I believe the show is and will be huge success!

The show is up until May 18 at Gallery 1988 (west).  You don’t want to miss this one, kids.

Updated site and Bad Robot Art Experience!

Hey everyone!

Wow it’s been a minute.  I’ve been busy with a lot of things that I’ve been working on and I think/hope you like what I’ve got in store!  Speaking of store, I have a new store and it has been relinked to my site and added it to my facebook page.

In case you haven’t seen my pieces yet, I did Star Trek.  I’m so excited for the next one!  I remember when I saw Star Trek.  I was already going into it as a Star Wars fan and when I walked out I said to my friend “WTF?!?  We need to get JJ to do a Star Wars movie to refresh the franchise that Lucas and Jar Jar destroyed.”  I guess someone else out there heard me! I also wanted to do Star Trek because the new one is coming out and I thought it would be fitting, especially since it’s fresh in mine and many others’ minds.

I’m releasing 2 versions of the print.  A blue regular and a multicolored variant.  I noticed that in the JJ Star Trek, majority of the film had a cool color tone and when I think of space, I mostly feel dark and cold.  As an homage to some of the older Star Trek posters I’ve seen, I did a heavy orange and warm tone variant.

We made the variants by using the split fountain method where you put multiple colors on a screen and then blend it so you get various gradations.  This results in no piece bing the same!!

The Bad Robot Experience will be on view at Gallery 1988 (WEST) on Melrose till May 18th.

Oscar Legends and Weapon of Choice: Phase 2 opening tomorrow in San Francisco!

Just wanted to give you a heads up about these 2 shows at Hero Complex Gallery opening this weekend!  WOC:P2 will still be selling my SUPER DOPE piece as well as an updated version of my “THIS IS A BINGO” original.

I have a new piece in the Oscar Legends show!!.  I chose Silence of the Lambs as my movie! It’s also one of my favorite films so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to pay some type of homage to it.  Here’s the preview link if you’re interested in purchasing it!

Here’s a little fun fact about Silence of the Lambs and the Oscars.

• It was the first Best Picture winner widely considered to be a horror film, and only the second such film to be nominated in the category, after The Exorcist in 1973.

• The film was the third film to win Academy Awards in all the top five categories: Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Director and Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay)

• The film is considered “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant by the U.S. Library of Congress and was selected to be preserved in theNational Film Registry in 2011.

Pretty cool, right?  Sadly I can’t make it out to the show, but if you can, please shoot some pics for me!

Happy Valentines Day!

Weapon of Choice at Hero Complex Gallery

Hi again! I’m in another show Friday night here in the City of Angels.  This one is at a new gallery called Hero Complex Gallery.  This theme was a fun one, but this piece was a doozie!  My weapon is the Super Scope from SNES.  I never had one as a kid, but I always wanted one.  This show gave me an excuse to pick one up.  After a few hours of setting up my SNES and connecting the Super Scope components, myself and some friends were finally able to sit down and try this puppy out for our first time!

Too bad it didn’t work with our TV!

DISAPPOINTED!

Oh well, I was able to get an art piece out of it.  The show opens Friday, January 11 at Hero Complex Gallery make sure you read the info.  I should be there after 9, so come out and say hello! I’ll be posting pictures of the finished prints asap.

Thanks!

Jason
